Biographical Info
I have the rare, painful fat disease lipoedema, plus fibromyalgia and arthritis and some permanent injuries to my shoulders and lower back. I have found that Laughter Yoga helps manage my pain, has improved my sleep and keeps me upbeat and motivated. I am better able to deal with stressful situations and my general outlook on life is positive. I am passionate about sharing this unique and effective exercise with others.
Since August 2017 I have been interviewed by local papers, appeared on the Morning Show on Radio 5 Live talking about laughter yoga and lipoedema & also on BBC Radio Cambs, Radio Newark, Peterborough Community Radio, BBC Radio Oxfordshire and BBC Radio Lincolnshire; I have participated in several guest podcasts and blogs, featured in Take a Break, Lincolnshire Life Magazine, Pear Shaped Magazine and appeared on Look North and with our UK Ambassador on Channel 4’s Good Grief, with the Rev Richard Coles. I regularly hold Laughter Yoga sessions at the annual Lipoedema UK conference, with small groups and sometimes as a taster or re-energiser with 150 people present.
I have led laughter yoga in different locations and situations. For instance: Health support groups, care homes, clubs, choirs, community groups, factories, conferences / training courses, businesses and at a hospital mental health unit. Since April 2020 I have provided online Laughter Yoga sessions for the Royal Voluntary Service and will continue to do so in 2023.
My background is in Development & Training achieving a Level 4 NVQ / Assessor Qualifications and PTLLs. After Covid interrupted plans, I successfully completed Laughter Yoga Teacher and Laughter Coach training in 2022. I complimented my laughter yoga qualifications with a Mental First Aid Certificate (Level 3) in 2019 and First Aid at Work Certificate (Aug 2022).
Having made a big move from Lincolnshire to Somerset in late 2022 I am looking forward to re-establishing myself in the area and nationally.
